Bruce Wilkinson, author of the jillion-selling "The Prayer of Jabez," hasn't written a book in six years. Now he is set to deliver two “major works of inspirational nonfiction." The first book, "You Were Born for This," (due Fall 2009) will tell readers "how to unlock your buried purpose and fulfill your destiny." Hasn't somebody already done a book like that? Go figure.

Ugh. That was a terrible book. Please, God, let this next one be better.
Though any book which promises to "unlock" some secret truth that will lead you to a better life, is reason enough for me to keep it at arms length.

I agree completely!!
OK, I have to admit I kind of got sucked in when the book came out. But, I came to my senses pretty quickly. I agree with all your comments.
Ummm.....Wilkinson is nuts. Just a couple years ago, he told an audience in Edmonton, Canada that God had taken his favour off of them and turned his back on them because the city was so sinful. Maybe he didn't sell enough books there.
i loved the prayer of jabez. he also wrote a book called "beyond jabez" that explained all the controversies surrounding it, and included a more in depth look at what he was trying to communicate in the first book. i've read it three times, and i'm currently reading it again. i always get something out of it each time i read. "The DreamGiver" is another book by him that is really good!
