Chris Tomlinson's first book, Crave, is a really good read if you ever find yourself wondering "is there more than this?" The subtitle of the book does a good job of summing it up "Wanting So Much More Of God." It took me a couple of times looking at the cover to get the subtle distinction between Tomlinson's book and books by other authors who promise you everything you can get from God. But as soon as I started reading the book, it was very clear that Tomlinson was interested in talking about increasing our cravings for God himself and not the things that we can get from God.
Tomlinson does a good job weaving in experiences and stories from his life with Scripture and literary references (including some of my favorites like C.S. Lewis and John Piper). The book flows very well with the way it is broken down in to 15 topical chapters. Each chapter does a good job of covering the topic and reaching back to previous stories and references in other chapters.
Crave is not just a good first book for Chris Tomlinson, it is a good book period. I'm looking forward to the next one he might put out there.
