Watching the World Burn

Twisting and turning in your own skin,
Hatred and violence is your sin,
The world is starting to burn in front of my eyes,
Set a blaze by all men’s lies.

The pain is unbearable to carry inside,
The pain is a thorn in my side,
Beaten like a stray dog, kicked when I’m down,
I smell the gasoline as I set fire to this town.

The tears of anguish are not that far,
No more wishing upon yonder star,
Drowning for the inside,
Going under the waves there is now where to hide.

The pressure continues on and on,
Turning the screws in,
I cry out like the psalmist;
“How long must I sing this song?”
“How much longer must this misery go on?

I no longer go on my own strength or power,
Life is down to the final hour,
Inside this desire starts to yearn,
Some men just want to see the world burn.

What keeps me sane?
It is when I call on your name.
Show me your ultimate plan,
Show me the love that is within your hand.

For everything there is a turn,
Some just like watching the world burn,
What keeps me sane?
It is when I call on your name.
Show me your ultimate plan,
Show me the love that is within your hand.
