USA: A country in crisis
created on Tue, 06/30/2009 - 21:39

Living in the United States is an awesome gift!  We enjoy more freedom than any other country, but segments of our society continue to abuse their freedoms or, worse, use their freedom to try to enslave others.  This is a country that was founded on Christian values, but Christ is
being squeezed out of many facets of our society.  We have become a
disposable nation with disposable values  .We are a country that has tried to "fix" the world, but problems here at home are having fuel added not fire retardant.

I love my country!  I would die for my country!  sadly, my country is changing and turning into something other than what it was designed to be; it is becoming a bed of sin and land of complacency.  All too often we sit back and allow injustice to take place simply because to protest the injustice takes too much energy, or even worse, is inconvenient because of the opinions of those around us.  We are afraid to stand up for right because we will be seen as bigoted and intolerant!  We live in a land that has so much to offer to everyone, but only those with loud lawyers and deep pockets are able to enjoy their freedoms.

There are groups in our country that are getting laws enacted that are wrong.  They get preferential treatment becuase they have bulldog groups backing them, and the honest, God fearing citizens are afraid of the almighty litigation.  Our pastors are being threatened with loss of tax status and possible jail time if they speak out against these groups; and all they are doing is teaching right out of the bible.  We should not be afraid to call out for moral correctness, and we should not sit back and hope someone else will address the issue.  Our country views everything as temporary, and disposable, these days; but our morality is not disposable.

The family is in jeopardy and these days it doesn't even rate a band aid.  Why is divorce up over 50%?  Why are our kids getting pregnant and doing drugs?  The family has been under attack for decades and it is losing ground.  We don't fix things anymore, we just throw them away and get a new and improved model.  Why work at saving a marriage; just go out and find someone new and improved.  If our marriages are weak, how can we expect our kids to be strong?  Kids are all too often raising themselves because both parents have to work to support their lifestyle.  In our schools the kids are learning that contraceptives are acceptable and that there are valid alternatives to the traditional family.  This teaching is corrupting our children and erroding what is left of our families.  We need to equip our children to persevere in hardship and to value their family.
