The Storms of Life

Matthew 14:22-34

Fishermen know the sea.  They know how to read the sky.  Jesus compelled his disciples into the boat, knowing the storm was coming.  They all knew, but they obeyed Jesus and set sail.  Jesus went to pray.  Sure enough, the storm came tossing and turning the sea and bettering the boat.  In their darkest hour who comes along walking on the water?

Jesus—always on top of things because he kept in communion with his Father.

In their fear, they didn’t recognize Jesus is the storm.  The storm wasn’t their making.  doing god’s will can be like a storm at times; it isn’t always easy and it’s not always “smooth sailing”, but just like the disciples that day, they made it. They crossed over to generated.  The boat didn’t sink

This is where Peter’s faith was stretched to do the impossible.  But he didn’t step out until Jesus said, “Come.” and when the storm began to drag him down, he called upon Jesus, who was right there with him to rescue him.

Storms of life will always try to drag us down, but walking in obedience will always bring deliverance from the storm.

Jesus, thank you that even in the storms and trials of life, you are there to bring us through them safely.

If Jesus is in your boat, you’ll never sink.
