Random Thoughts (Lost at Sea)
By Trevor Goforth
Listening for the sound,
I know it can be found,
In the symphony,
Listening for a specific melody.
Is it all part of your imagination?
Like the train leaving the station,
A destination far from home,
Maybe I was meant to be alone.
Looking up at the stars,
Dancing lights of the passing cars,
This is my life,
A Longing; freedom from sorrow and strife.
Seems like a fairy tale or dream,
Part of an evil scheme,
My head starts to sway,
Overwhelmed; I am taken away.
Taken to a place so beautiful it cannot be real,
To a place where all I do is feel,
There is a science to explore,
Always longing; wanting more.
I hear the children laugh and cry,
My hearts starts to ask; Why?
Why can’t this be me?
Emotions held within year after year,
To let it all out is a beautiful thing to hear.
A hallucination,
A revelation,
An object appears in the rear-view mirror,
Close; yet they are afar.
Like a memory afloat at sea,
A love note left in a jar.
If this memory is lost at sea,
The rage and fury only come from within me.
Oh; how I feel my heart,
Lost and torn apart.
