You can feel it on a calm spring morning, dew wet between your toes, the sun rising over a distant hilltop; the warmth of that sun’s ray’s gently caressing your face.
Again, you feel it in the chill of winter. You recall how quiet everything gets as snow falls gently from the heavens.
You feel it, still more, when you hear the echoes of laughter coming from the tiny, innocent mouths of children, running carelessly through the school yard.
You see it in the faces of those same children as the last day of school unfolds and the wonder of summer, once again, is laid out like an endless canvass of days to be painted with play, fun, and joy.
You smell it as you enter a coffee house, with its aroma wafting gently around a quiet, studious and reflective audience of many, alone and together.
You sense it on those days when the clouds part after a storm, revealing a brilliant blue sky, the arc of a rainbow reaching from always has been to always will be. It reminds us of something larger than ourselves.
You are reminded of it upon the passing of a loved one. Still and quiet, we bid them goodbye, remembering everything about them all at once. There is a certain calm when we remember that it is there.
We taste it through a glass of red wine; gently contemplating as we swirl it about, taking in it’s peace, soaking up its tranquility, and remembering how good life can feel.
A run through the streets in a driving rain; at first irritated, and finally succumbing to the shear joy of being alive. Exhilaration follows the irritation, and defines the moment for us; Forever.
We begin our own “Forever” again each day. Yours may begin with the song of a mockingbird outside the window. It may begin with a hot shower, washing away the cares of yesterday, or it may begin with that first sip of coffee, in solitude and darkness as you start a new day. Forever always begins right now. Don’t miss it.
