(For the purpose of this piece, I use the term expressionist not strictly relating to the artistic movement, but as a description. In my opinion, expressionists are those who boldly share a piece of their souls with the world through their preferred medium.)

From sound to color, and every sensory perception in between, Art has given the human spirit a way to communicate to the outside world. One's emotions, thoughts, perceptions, and history may be heard in a song, shared in passionate conversation, read in a poem, or seen in a painting. Without art our skies would grow grey and our hearts cold. Art's muse, it must be noted, has always been the human spirit. Their symbiotic relationship was formed out of a mutual need. Without the human spirit, art would simply cease to be. Have you nourished your spirit today? (Read in your Bible John chapter 7, verses 37-39).
