I Miss David and David

I’m the tv doldrums.

My regular season shows (like Lost, Pushing Daisies, Chuck ) have all wrapped up and won’t be back until fall.

The fun summer shows I like (Monk, Eureka, Burn Notice) haven’t started up yet.

And I find I’m totally missing American Idol. What I wouldn’t give for a little David and David right about now.

Honestly, I’m not quite sure what to do with myself.

I miss summer reruns. I grew up before VCRs, tv on DVD, DVRs, so the summer rerun was my one shot to see a favorite episode again. But even better than that, the summer rerun was my opportunity to watch a show I hadn’t watched during the regular season because another show was on at the same time. Very exciting!

It was a simpler time.

So what have I been doing during this television downtime? I reread Prince Caspian before I went to the movie (and I have to say, I like how they added more action to the movie. Apologies to C.S. Lewis, but Caspian is not the most action-packed fantasy adventure story out there…). I’m getting my money’s worth out of NetFlix (last film I watched, The United States of Leland, was interesting but disturbing. I sometimes wonder what made me put a movie in my queue in the first place! Seemed like a great pick at the time…). I’ve emailed my niece and got my nephew’s birthday present mailed in time. I called my mom. I had dinner with a friend.

Oh my gosh, it’s like I have a life.

Note to self: Take full advantage of this television downtime. Soon enough, I’ll be obsessing over programming my VCR correctly and whether Bruce Campbell needs more screen time. At least for now, my family thinks I rock and my friends have put me back in their Fav Five.

And that’s better than a summer rerun.

How about 'So You Think You Can Dance?' That's a great show....ahhh...I have heard. Let me know who gets voted off tonight. I'll be at Indiana Jones!

"So You Think You Can Dance" was tempting! But I think 1 talent-based reality contest show per year is about all I can handle.

Did you like Indy?

You always rock. :)

You are very kind. :)
