Where in the Bible does it say you have to be married legally to be married in the eyes of God? Can you be married in a church by a pastor and not go through the legal process of the state, and still be bound in marriage in the eyes of God?

Why don't you want to be married legally?
interesting question--but here is my two-cents.
First, Jesus said we are to obey the laws of the land. So if a Pastor in a church, was to marry you, he could not do it without a marriage certificate from the state. If he did, it would not be legal and binding, and he would be commiting sin, by "hiding" his act of marrying you without it. So in this case, it is common sense that a Pastor following the will of God will not even marry a couple without it.
Secondly, Moses spoke of the "certificate of divorce" so that would it would be legal divorce, Jesus did not refrute this but went on to explain it --so it is obvious that one would have certificate of marriage as well. Matthew 19:1-11
And I guess it leaves me wondering the same thing as gonzoguy. Why wouldn't you want to be legally married? You would still be living in sin, by not obeying the laws of the land and being united in the eyes of God the right way.
Very interesting question.
