President Obama: Can we emphasize your Muslim roots or not? During the presidential campaign you strongly downplayed your Islamic background (strong criticism was leveled at those who included your middle name “Hussein.”) Yet in your recent speech in Cairo you emphasized your background and sympathy for Islam. In fact, you boasted of having “known Islam on three continents.” Which is it? And how far does your sympathy for Islam go? Why did you speak out immediately against the killing of Dr. Tiller, but were very slow in response to the murder at the recruiting office by an American Muslim? President Obama: Are you a Christian, or not? You have claimed to be a Christian, and I give you the benefit of the doubt (as I would anyone else). Something you said recently, however, raised some concern. In your Cairo speech you said you look forward to the day, “…when Jerusalem is a secure and lasting home for Jews and Christians and Muslims, and a place for all of the children of Abraham to mingle peacefully together as in the story of Isra, when Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed (peace be upon them) joined in prayer." The term “peace be upon them” is used by Muslims to bless deceased holy men. According to Islam, Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed are dead prophets. Yet, of course, to Christians Jesus is the living and immortal Son of God. You may think I am making too big of a deal about this, but remember, you have recently claimed to be deeply versed in Islam. President Obama: Will you step down from your presidency, since your race is being used as a recruiting tool for white supremacist groups? Last night CNN had a program about the recent barrage of “hate” crimes (the death of Dr. Tiller, the murder at the Holocaust museum, and the killing of the military recruiter by an American Muslim). A CNN expert pointed out that Barack Obama’s presidency, since he is an African-American, is being used as a recruiting tool for white supremacist groups and that there will likely be a significant increase in such attacks. Given that your primary justification for shutting down Guantanamo is that it is being used as a recruiting tool for terrorists, will you step down as president for the sake of consistency? You seem like a team player, so why not take one for the team? I actually don’t think you should step down. You won fairly and deserve the right to serve your term(s). But is consistency too much to ask? President Obama: Are you against nations working unilaterally or not? In a recent speech to international leaders you said that no individual nation should work alone—it must work in partnership with other nations. However, you also recently told Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu that Israel needs to stop building settlements in the West Bank, as the U.S. would not tolerate such actions. Your Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, chimed in, calling for a “stop to settlements—not some settlements, not outposts, not natural growth exceptions” from Israel in the West Bank (The Week, June 12, 2009, p. 21). In other words, Clinton is making unique demands that apply solely to Israel. Please clarify, for there seems to be a contradiction. If you are against nations making individual demands, then how can you level unilateral criticism at Israel? Are you reserving special condemnation for Israel that you won’t extend to Muslim nations? Sure, many Islamic nations would support your criticism of Israel, but that was not your justification. It’s amazing to me that the mainstream media doesn’t pick up on these contradictions (except Sean Hannity picked up on the first one). Why not? The only explanation I can think of is its liberal bias. Check out this link for some recent stats that clearly show the media’s bias towards Obama. If anyone has another explanation, I would love to hear it. David Letterman recently said that he doesn’t make jokes of Obama because he doesn’t provide any good material. Is he serious? This is hard to believe, especially since Obama claimed there are 57 states and also made derogatory comments about the Special Olympics. The media love for Obama is absolutely astonishing. It was best summed up by Newsweek editor Evan Thomas in an interview on MSNBC: "I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God." |

I suppose that people feel that it is more important to point out the rhetorical sleight of hand when this is being used to justify war, torture, bad economic policies, invasions of privacy, the selfish and backwards refusals to do our part in combating global warming, etc. And it is more important to ridicule a leader's ignorance when you see that president exploiting the anti-intellectual trends of our society. You see the difference?
If anyone dosent know it or understand that Presidernt Obama has changed and WILL get worse everyday as the Satan plays with him everyday because he's a Leader. Sean, I agree with your assessment, but I think it would be good to point out that although the MSM might be missing these inconsistencies, usually the blogosphere and talk radio see them.
It might also be important to point out how many also overlooked things in the Bush era, the Reagan era, and the Clinton era, but that the Obama era has taken it to a whole new level

Also: Obama is not as smart as your mainstream media thinks. (I’m a European Union citizen and an Australian so my opinion counts for double!) For example, I laughed when he thought Austrian was a language. And giving an iPod to the Queen and DVDs to Gordon Brown (with the wrong format)?
The British papers pounded him – but in America I see that some people are very protective and treat Obama like some kind of Messiah figure. This is very concerning.

I think Obama is not better than any human being or any politician - however, as it was said already he is seen as a kind of messiah by many, and not only by Americans. Even here in Germany where people and the media are very critical towards our own politicians, they are extremely enthusiastic about Obama. I think this is the dangerous thing about the "Obama factor", not the fact that he is a fallible person and makes political or other mistakes!
I would be very careful about using sources like the MRC to back up your argument. A quick internet search shows me that, it was founded by L. Brent Bozell III, who also "currently... serves on the board for the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, a group against the defamation of Catholics in America" While this is not inherently wrong, it raises red flags for me. It is not an organization whose best interests lie in presenting an unbiased view of media reporting. Next time, please use an actually impartial group to argue for liberal bias. For example,

Now, I am not arguing that the media does not love Obama. Why would it hate him? He won by overwhelming plurality. As for the Hussein thing? I wish we could emphasize his name. But can you argue that we as a nation have not been indoctrinated to hate Islam? Muslims still have their civil rights violated on a regular basis. The only mention of Islam we see in the media is when somebody suicide bombs, or when there is other Middle East Conflict. It, therefore, is not a surprise that a name like Hussein would induce fear or hatred in response.
I think Sean is right, but of course this sword cuts both ways; both "sides" have bias, and both "sides" (and even those in between) have their "Messiahs." In fact, America in many ways was founded upon a Zionistic presumption; and we "all" still suffer from this kind of thinking, in a way (remember Reagan's "City on a Hill").
I'm not really that into politics, at least by training, either (theology for me); but I do think Obama has taken us to an all new level of "Messianic" politics.

While I agree that worshipping ANYONE or ANYTHING that isn't Jesus is wrong... I have to say that I'm appalled that these conversations would be happening in the name of God. World leaders who get put on an unrealistic pedestal can indeed have the potential to be very dangerous. However, Obama's religion should have nothing to do with it. Church and State are supposed to be separate for a reason and it's ridiculous claims like this that cause hate. Comparing Obama to HITLER??? Hitler started a LARGE SCALE genocide and Obama has a funny middle name (somehow this does not seem worth comparing). I hope people don't think that God is like this because of the way you are talking. I would not want to follow a God who's followers make such disgusting and bigoted claims. NO ONE is perfect, that's the WHOLE point of salvation. Expecting perfection goes against EVERYTHING Jesus taught. However, he did say that the most important thing is Love! And I don't see ANY love in this discussion. Instead of wasting time picking apart the little details of a politician who is doing his best under enormous amounts of scrutiny. Find someone to show God's love to. Then maybe we can show people what Christ's love looks like instead of pushing them away.
Speaking of theology, we should be looking back in history and religious beliefs to see how far wrong we have gone in the past five or ten years. Our forefathers were not prepared for an Obama to be president.
The media is not the only group who are asleep at the wheel! I think people in general are being lulled to sleep by the melodious tones of a new type of president who wanted CHANGE but what kind of change are we looking at here? Our freedoms are being stripped away on a daily basis, and God is being slowly taken out of the picture of who we have always been as a nation. ONE Nation Under GOD! We all need to go back to history class and read the Constitution and Declaration of Independence to remind ourselves of what this country what built on. Faith, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are becoming a thing of the past and its scary.

Obama Discovers God is On His Side
Remember when candidate Obama said important religious matters were “above my pay grade?”
Well, apparently those days are all over. The president has discovered miraculously that God is on his side (and coincidentally, not on ours) in his push for the total government takeover of health care:
According to the Weekly Standard, In a morning conference call with about 1000 rabbis from across the nation, Obama asked for aid: "I am going to need your help in accomplishing necessary reform," the President told the group, according to Rabbi Jack Moline, who tweeted his way through the phoner.
"We are God's partners in matters of life and death," Obama went on to say, according to Moline's real-time stream.
Wow. Obama sees himself as God’s partner in “matters of ... death.” Wow. Can anybody say “death panels?” And the left thought they were the ones who had to worry about a president who wanted to impose a theocracy on America!
That deafening silence you hear is the utter absence of any screeching from the ACLU and Americans United for the Separation of Church and State. Apparently they don’t care if a leftwing president crosses their mythical line of separation as long as the Christian God he claims to serve has been fashioned in the president’s image rather than the other way round. Wow.
