Stand to Reason

Check out Stand to Reason

Stand to Reason’s mission states what kind of activity we’re involved in:  Stand to Reason trains Christians to think more clearly about their faith and to make an even-handed, incisive, yet gracious defense for classical Christianity and classical Christian values.

Regardless of the precise wording, our mission has five important elements:

1.  What is our principle activity?  Training, giving the believer the practical ability to “give an answer to everyone who asks.”
2.  Who do we train? Christians, those born again to a new life in the Kingdom.
3.  What do we train them to do? Think clearly and make a defense
4.  What is the manner in which they do this? Intellectually fair, gracious, incisive, and winsome
5.  What will be the scope of their defense? The doctrines and ethics of classical Christianity

We focus on the basics, combining the fundamentals of theology and ethics with the foundational tools to couple sharp minds with warm hearts in the local church. We aim to put these tools into the hands of believers and show them how to use them for personal growth and public advocacy of Christianity.

This distinguishes us from other organizations. Stand to Reason is more than just a place to get information. STR is a place to get educated. We don’t just answer questions; we teach how to think. STR is not known so much for the unique information we give, but for the way we use the information.

STR teaches the value of using our minds to love God and share the Gospel. We teach careful thinking and encourage Christians to develop coherent answers to questions they’re challenged with so their faith is deepened and they’re emboldened to share the Gospel.
