Fall into the gap. No, this isn't "The Lovely Bones" meets trendy Gap jingle. This is what happens when I go on vacation. Relaxation. Intoxication. Loneliness. Words. By themselves can mean one thing, but put together in a sentence with meaning and purpose, another. This week I flew up to Seattle for the Catalyst One Day in Seattle. Loved it. I was already feeling intoxicated from the crisp Mountain air, pretty green trees and lovely coast. I think God knew I needed a relaxing vacation away from the typical, Eat. Pray. Respond. See: Dallas. Recently, God has been stirring a new thing in my heart. Like He's gonna change a whole lotta me from the inside out. So fresh and so clean clean. Seattle. The perfect place to be for that. Warm coffee (which I don't drink), real friends, and a relaxed atmosphere. Loved it. But, I said that already. The last day, I was feelin' guilty. Like I should have been uber-God-obsessed-nature-girl-in-Seattle-soaking-up-my-quiet-times. Nah. Catalyst overpoured my brain with too much goody-church-goodness (and not in a bad way), so I started to eat. pray.... What happens in the in-between stays in the... Almost every dirty little secret happens in between stuff. Churches can suggest that community happens during growth groups (my church is about to start up growth groups again), but I say... Wrong! I need accountability. You need accountability. We all scream for ice cream. Wait. Accountability shouldn't be forced. Only God can judge, but it is up to us to take responsibility for ourselves and our lives. Confession: I can't help but notice a deep pattern within the cashams of my heart that long to be filled. I'm thankful for rest, relaxation, and vacation but it's time to get back to work and stand firm. So after (and I mean after) we've suffered a little while (1 Peter 5:10) we'll still be standing (Eph. 6:10). Are you with me? Or am I the only one standing in the gap? |
