Dear Jimmy Fallon

Dear Jimmy Fallon,

Dude, I like you.

I really do.

You (and Tina!) anchoring the newsdesk were the only reason I tuned into SNL during that era. And I don't care what anyone says, Fever Pitch was a cute little movie.

So, when I heard you got the Late Night gig, I was thrilled--thrilled you'd be back on TV making us laugh.

Okay, so at the moment you're a nervous bundle of energy and (just maybe) interviewing celebrities isn't exactly your forte, but I have faith. I have faith because you've honestly made me laugh during your first few broadcasts (not a ton, but some). I love it when you make me laugh.

Stay true to yourself--your ever-laughing, self-deprecating, good-spirited, kind-hearted self--and you'll find your way. I know you will.

Thankfully, people seem to be remembering that Conan's Late Night wasn't built in a day, so I think you're going to get what most tv shows don't get anymore--time to work it out. And you appear earnest enough and dedicated enough to take advantage of this rare opportunity.

I don't know who said this, but I believe it's true: "Anything worth having is worth waiting for."

Jimmy, you'll be worth the wait.

Dear Jimmy Fallon,

Barb is the only fan you have on this planet...

Barb, I love reading your stuff, but I simply cannot agree with you regarding Jimmy. He's a hack!

My friend, we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one. :)

Hi - this isn't about Jimmy Fallon, but I didn't see an email for a general question:

Did you watch Battlestar Gallactica? I would love to hear discussion and commentary from people of faith. There were TONS of spiritual and religious themes in the whole series. I've seen lots of general commentary, most of it derisive and critical, but not much of any from the Christian community. I thought the series was great - really thought provoking.

Just wondered if this blog about television might be a good place for that discussion.

Thanks.

I am a HUGE BSG Fan! So glad to meet another. And yes, I do need to talk about that show here. I haven't watched the finale yet (I was on a business trip--can't beleive that life got in the way of the BSG finale--ha ha ha!), but as soon as I do, I know I'm going to want to talk about it. I'll start something here.

That show (a lof of Sci Fi, actually) gave us a lot of throught-provoking and spiritual themes to talk about. The nature of good and evil. What makes a human a human? How is morality impacted by things like sheer survival? I could go on and on.

Thanks so much for bringing it up. I'll get the finale watched and throw out my thoughts.
