Does God listen to and answer prayers of unbelievers, even though they believe in and worship God? I was watching a program where an American family brought an Iraqi family over to the States. They were saying grace and the Iraqi father gave thanks to God. If this Iraqi family is Muslim, we know they aren't Christian believers. So what happens to their prayers?
Some have said that the only prayer of an unbeliever that God hears is a prayer for salvation. Sometimes they cite John 9:31, but in context this refers to prayers for a miracle.
There are some instances in Scripture where God hears and responds to the prayers of an unbeliever. Perhaps the best known is the Roman centurion, Cornelius, who was called "devout and God-fearing" and "who prayed to God regularly" (Acts 10:1-2). God heard Cornelius and sent Peter to his house, and all in that household were saved.

I believe that God created each and everyone of us with love in his heart. I also believe that God understands that a child in Malaysia is likely to be less exposed to the truth of Christianity than someone who grows up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Thus, if a child falls and skins his knee, and calls out to "God" to comfort him, I believe God will help him through the situation. Maybe it won't be in the form of comfort, it could be a lesson in perseverance through pain.
