One of the best ways to learn about the type of person someone is is by looking at the books that populate their bookshelves. Books, I’ve found, play a large role in shaping how any of us understand and inhabit our worlds–so naturally they are a good place to go when seeking to understand a subculture. For example, the following is a list of the types of books that define the Christian hipster subculture.
How many of these 50 books have you read? If you’ve read more than 20 of them, there is a good chance that you are a Christian with artistic or intellectual tendencies. If you’ve read more than 30 of them, you are most likely a Christian hipster. If you’ve read more than 40 of them, let me know. You could probably write the sequel to Hipster Christianity.

Hmm. . . I own 41 of the 50 books but have only ready about 12 of them. Now I'm scared that if I read the rest it may turn me into a hipster.
Great list. Although it is my experience that hipsters don't read a lot. But they will quote a lot of authors.
Hmm, well, I have Tolkein's Lord of the Rings and Shakespeare's King Lear....and that appears to be it. I do have *other* works by C.S. Lewis and I think even something by A. W. Tozer and by Bonhoeffer, but not those specific books. I might even have a Thomas a Kempis around somewhere. I've never heard of half of those and don't own the other half. So I must not be a Christian Hipster. :>
What about christian hipsters who are dyslexic? I don't read very fast, so it would take me about 50 years to read fifty books. (Especially, Confessions- I gave up near the end when it turned into a philosophy paper)
I was assigned "Silence" when I took a Japanese culture class in college. It totally blew my mind and shaped a lot of my thinking about doubt. Thank you University of Illinois for making me take a "Non-Western" class and introducing me to this book!
