Digital vs. Print: John Barry on The Radio Show "Business is Crazy"

Digital vs. print? An age-old question. Answer: Both.

I recently discussed this and much more on "Business is Crazy" in Kansas City. The "more" I discussed includes: throwing out a "crazy" magazine-industry business model for the sake of the editor-reader relationship, how my company Logos Bible Software is revolutionizing the way people approach the Bible, and what it is like to create Christian media.

My interview begins around 26 minutes into the show (26:11 to be exact). Listen to it (or download it) on the "Business is Crazy" site here. The show aired on February 25, 2010.

If you have time, definitely listen to the fellow interviewed before me as well: Dan Entwistle, Managing Executive Director for Programs and Ministries at Church of the Resurrection in Kansas City. Dan discusses how the church can utilize technology to reach the world.

Shout out to the host of the show, Kyle Holt, and his fascinating paraphrase of the Bible, The Bible in Rhyme. For more on the magazine I run, edit and write for -- Bible Study Magazine -- check out

The mp3 is copyrighted by "Business is Crazy" and its affiliates, 2010. I have used it by permission. I received a free copy of The Bible in Rhyme in the hopes that I would promote it, but nonetheless, I only promote books I personally recommend.

Jesus Uncensored

Was Jesus a white, Dutch pacifist with blond, curly hair and a flowing robe, like he is portrayed in many movies? Or was he a bearded, Middle-Eastern rabbi who made nearly every religious and political figure of his day infuriated? Why did Jesus die? Could it be that he was perceived as a zealous, sacrilegious leader of a revolt? Who is the uncensored Jesus?

This is a message that I delivered at a mission in my hometown. There is a lot of coughing during the audio since most of the audience is ill from spending most of their time in the cold on the street. Jesus came to these people -- that is the topic of the message. Please pray for my friends without a home. And enjoy the message!

How Did Jesus Become God?

How did Jesus come to be known also as God? What does it mean for Jesus to be called "Christ" and "Lord?" What was it about Jesus that made his earliest followers believe that he was divine? And what precisely is the relationship between Jesus and our world?

Is the Church Full of Hypocrisy? -- by John Barry

Is the church full of hypocrites? Many of us have asked this question in different ways. It seems that no matter where you turn, you will find a Christian acting hypocritical. Are they all this way? If so many Christians are hypocrites, does that make the very religion of Christianity a paradox (any oxy-moronic faith)? And what did Jesus have to say about (and to) hypocrites? What insight do the ancient words of Christ shed upon this not so modern problem?

Where is God? -- by John Barry

Where is God when it really hurts? When the world seems to crash down around us, and all we feel is pain, it seems that God is completely absent. In this sermon, I tell you about my experience with suffering and offer you what I have learned -- it is okay to be honest with God, even when your honesty can be quite brutal.

Judas and His Gospel -- by John Barry

Is the story the Gospel of Judas tells true? Should the Gospel of Judas be included in the Bible? In this sermon I review the historical evidence for the accuracy of the Gospel of Judas, as well as discuss issues related to the formation of the Bible.
