Here's an interview I recently did on the topic of New Atheism. I give some reasons for the popularity of New Atheism and suggest some strategies for communicating the truth of Christianity in today's world. The interview originally posted on Christianity.com, a site that delivers Christian content for all areas of life from trusted Christian leaders.

Your comment in this video vis a vis arguments of the new atheists: "I think they're pretty thin." I would not only agree with you, Sean, but I'd say that their arguments are actually counter-productive to their own cause. And that's because I think atheism's whole raison d'etre is weak. Think about it: "A-theism," by its very name defines individuals who don't stand FOR something, but simply have decided to stand AGAINST something else. Their whole premise is based on firing shots across the bow at other people, rather than championing something that is uniquely their own. Their de facto belief system is grounded in little more than identifying the things they DON'T believe in. This is why I have a hard time respecting what atheists have to say. I keep wanting them to tell me what they do believe in. If not theism, then what??? But suddenly that question takes them into murky waters and responses that aren't nearly as clear-cut or unified. If atheists want my respect, they need to start showing me meat on the bones - stop making the basis of their existence about what they're not, and figure out what they are.
